On September 21st, International Cooperation and Exchange Office organized foreign teachers of YUFE to pay a visit to Mile County. Tom from America, Sol from Turkey, Jana from Latvia, new foreign teacher Robert from America, Helga from Austria and Janis from Latvia participated in this activity.
In the afternoon, the coach was heading for Mile County, Honghe State in Yunnan Province, loaded with joy and expectation. All the staff were chatting and laughing along the way and didn’t feel the fatigue of travelling. Foreign teachers learned a Chinese song---Jasmine.
At dawn, they reached the destination. The picturesque scenery and serenity made foreign teachers felt at ease and indulged in it. In the evening, they went to hot springs in the woods for a rest and felt relaxed in the comfortable water and fresh air.
On the morning of the following day, they left for Maitreya Temple. The shining golden Maitreya Buddha at the waist of the Cuiping Mountain could be seen at a very long distance. Staff members from International Cooperation and Exchange Office gave an introduction of Chinese Buddhism culture to foreign teachers and they showed great interest in it. After entering the temple, all of them climbed up 1999 stairs and witnessed world’s largest smiling Buddha.
On the way back, foreign teachers stated that this expedition was quite rich and compact. They not only enjoyed the emerald green mountainous landscape but also experienced the local customs and unique Chinese culture. Foreign teacher Helga said that the comfortable environments and abundant activities of YUFE made her feel at home.
Organizing various activities for foreign teachers can enhance their relationships with YUFE and promote their understanding of YUFE in depth so that they can adapt to this new life and work mode quickly.
